On it's easier to imagine the end of the world..., Webber brings together nine of the finest improvisers active in creative music and clearly demonstrates why she has received so many accolades as a composer (Webber was recently named 'Rising Star Composer of the Year’’ in the 2026 DownBeat Critic's Poll). On this album she gives each band member a tailor-made vessel to showcase their original voice, while seamlessly moving between composed and improvised material. The source that inspired the record - works by authors and thinkers who are addressing late-stage capitalism and its effects - encourages Webber and her Nonet to hold the collective as an ideal rather than individualism, and this is reflected in the music through Webber's unselfish approach to bandleading. A masterpiece!
