Danny Lubin-Laden - Windows Out (2026) [Hi-Res]

Berkeley-based trombonist and composer Danny Lubin-Laden has released “Windows Out,” a collection of intricate, compelling ambient chromatic pieces produced by his longtime collaborator Ari Chersky. The album was recorded across multiple sessions in Oakland and Brooklyn.

The trombone, with Lubin-Laden’s distinctive melodic voice, remains the emotional center, surrounded by a sonic environment of piano, keyboards, vibraphone, guitar, tape loops, voice and French horn. Cosmic loops and tightly focused riffs combine with song-like improvisation and simple compositions that at times converge and at times collide. The music is in constant motion, unfurling ideas and textures while leaving space for each sound.

The album both blurs and highlights the boundaries between melody, tone and atmosphere, making its pieces kaleidoscopic, emotive and hypnotic. It does not demand close attention but rewards it generously, inviting the listener to look outward and inward, as if through a series of crystalline windows.
