João Donato - Viva Donato (2026) [Hi-Res]

In 2026, the Selo Sesc label released Viva Donato, a tribute album honoring the legendary pianist and composer João Donato. The project features 15 songs performed by renowned artists such as Gilberto Gil, Bebel Gilberto, and Ivan Lins, showcasing the musician’s immense legacy. One of the pioneers of bossa nova, João Donato masterfully blended jazz with Afro-Latin rhythms, profoundly influencing generations of Brazilian artists. The album spans five decades of his career, beginning with the classic 1986 composition “A Paz.” For the musicians who took part in the recording, the process became a deeply personal exploration of the composer’s subtle harmonies and minimalist style. The collection, created in 2025 with the participation of more than 60 people, is now available on streaming platforms and at Sesc stores. The organizers hope the release will introduce a new generation of listeners to João Donato’s timeless work.
