Olga is right on target. This is a very tame Pathétique. I've tried to listen to it two or three times, but it hardly holds my attention.

I kept thinking of past recordings like Pletnev's high voltage first recording with the Russian National Orchestra, or Currentzis' recent reading and this just does not belong in their company.

Much too early to judge Kirill, but he sounds very self-conscious at this point. Hopefully he will relax in due course.
