What does your format depend on?

RAR has quite an advantages when it comes to multivolume support, has the ability to reconstruct RAR archives broken (which sometimes happens)and protecting records of modifications not on purpose.

Please use .rar at least with multivolume files because it's impossible to check for crc-errors, thanks.
