The Whale is a set of songs that the band has been performing since the fall of 2013. Each song is unique in its own right, but collectively serves to tell a comprehensive story of the human experience. With epic highs and lows the music builds and releases tension through intentional voicing on each instrument, complimenting the lyrical power behind the songs. From the yearning of “Passionate Soul” to the utter heartbreak of the eponymous track, “The Whale,” this album holds weight in both the music and the words. The Whale was recorded at Jupiter Studios with Martin Feveyear in October of 2014. The album was built from the ground up, starting with bass and drums, eventually layering on everything else. The seasoned Feveyear worked like a wizard to obtain the very best performances out of each musician. The goal in the end was to create an album that contained unique songs with a wide range of style that captured the sound, breadth, and characteristics of Lowlands.
