Melbourne folkster’s The Paper Kites have just announced their sophomore LP, ‘Twelvefour’. The self proclaimed ‘concept album’ will focus around the idea that an artist’s creative peak lays within the early hours of – yeah you guessed it, twelve to four. Following on from that wonderful news, the five piece have also decided to partner the announcement with a brand new single, “Electric Indigo”. The track perfectly embodies the bands signature and distinct style; a fusion of folk-rock, indie-pop and subtle psychedelic-rock influences. The albums concept is already quite tangible here with the track possessing a trance like quality, stemming from the absorbing rhythm of electric guitars and a stunning marriage of male and female vocalisation from Sam Bentley and Christina Lacey. As the cut begins to close, the broad range of instrumentation takes on an ethereal quality, further cementing the tracks dream-like aesthetic. If “Electric Indigo” is any indication of whats to come, then Twelvefour is set to be one terrific album.
