2014 archive release by the criminally overlooked Scottish outfit. Still active to this day, Glasgow band the Jazzateers made their name with an album and single for Rough Trade Records in 1983. DON'T LET YOUR SON GROW UP TO BE a COWBOY boasts the band's earlier, long-thought-lost sessions for Postcard Records, combining nearly two albums overseen by Postcard boss and Jazzateers' manager Alan Horne. 'Wasted' was scheduled to be the final Postcard single (81-14) and was produced by Orange Juice's Edwyn Collins. Although it only existed for a couple of years, Postcard has been hugely influential and was recently the subject of a critically acclaimed book by Simon Goddard, Simply Thrilled. The album has been overseen by current Jazzateer Douglas Macintyre (of the Creeping Bent Organization). The title and artwork of this amazing compilation hark back to work-in-progress ideas during the band's time with Postcard.
