Ayahuasca Dreams begins with Peru, an upbeat compilation of guitar, Andean flute, and drums. At some point it almost sounds like rock music, then gives way to the Peruvian sounds of the background band. Too Young too Soon and Physician Poet are a tribute to the prominent Public Health physician Antoinette Yancey, who lost her life to cancer at an early age. Toni, as she was known to her friends, wrote poetry in her spare time and Ciro’s guitar accompanied her stanzas. Toni was an advocate for exercise, as a way to stimulate the mind as well as the body. Her passing away at an early age was a great loss to the Los Angeles County Public Health community. This album really proves that music can make life much sweeter, as we wash away our sorrow and pain with the soothing tunes and comforting lyrics. Feliz is a happy track that comes midway in the album to keep the momentum going. This album is a lovely addition to any music collection.
