Vancouver-based avant-garde trio Raymond Roussel, formed by guitarist and composer Eldritch Priest, bassist James Meger, and multi-instrumentalist Brady Cranfield, has released their debut record No One Asked Us Yet. All three members represent the upper echelon of the Canadian experimental scene: Eldritch Priest is an Associate Professor of Contemporary Art and sound theorist, James Meger is a prolific bassist who has collaborated with Ken Vandermark and Darius Jones, while Brady Cranfield balances sound art with interdisciplinary cultural projects.

The sonic architecture of No One Asked Us Yet bridges contemporary jazz, post-fusion, free jazz, and experimental electronics. The ensemble contrasts clean acoustic and guitar lines with heavy digital processing, whammy pedal pitch-shifting, dub rhythms, fuzz distortion, and futuristic drones. Across the album's tracks, the group weaves Priest's original compositions alongside radical jazz improvisations and noise-tinged psychedelic reinterpretations of classic pieces by Bill Evans and the folk standard "Black Is The Colour (Of My True Love's Hair)."
