Natashia Kelly - A new beginning in this cold season (2026) [Hi-Res]

Belgian vocalist and composer Natashia Kelly has released A New Beginning In This Cold Season, a poetic and deeply atmospheric album about transition, resilience and renewal. Its seven original compositions are built on images of nature: landscapes, weather, animals and natural forces serve as the language in which Kelly speaks about inner states — fear and hope, darkness and clarity, fragility and strength.

The musical foundation is jazz, interwoven with soul, gospel, spoken word and contemporary groove-based music, so that lyricism and improvisation meet in an intimate sonic space. Kelly’s warm, expressive voice is accompanied by a trio of musicians: Benjamin Sauzereau on electric and acoustic guitar, Yannick Peeters on double bass, and Dre Pallemaerts on drums and kanjira. The sound is both delicate and grounded, moving from hushed, reflective moments to subtle rhythmic energy.

The title song sets the tone: the cold season is both a literal landscape and an emotional state. From there, wind, wings, clouds, horses, moonlight and storms become symbols of change and endurance. Kelly does not answer the world’s turmoil with slogans; she looks for meaning in nature and finds beauty, movement and quiet strength in the face of uncertainty.

The seven songs run just over half an hour — a concise yet idea-rich, refined and emotionally resonant statement from an artist whose music balances vulnerability with power, and whose storytelling invites the listener into a shared space of reflection, healing and hope.
