Taking the bratty and brash sound of garage punk to new levels, Wax Witches is the solo project of photographer and musician Alex Wall of the Australian garage rock outfit Bleeding Knees. Performing all of the instruments himself, Wall pushes the genre to the extreme, bringing to mind a more melody-minded take on the grinding sound of bands like Coachwhips. The project made its debut with a short and sweet EP, From Hell, in 2012, before following up in 2013 with Celebrity Beatings, which was released by Burger Records. For his next record, Wall switched gears considerably, moving away from pop punk to explore a slower and heavier power pop sound on his wistful 2014 album, Center of Your Universe.
