Free Energy Device is the collaborative project of Luis Berrón (Nueve Vidas), Paulina Lasa (Nima Ikki), and David Sánchez (Turning Torso) from Mexico City. Their sonic output relies on freeform improvisation dynamics and continuous recording sessions. Rhythmic neopsychedelia expanded by fragmented lyrics and filtered melodies unleash the creative stream within their creators.

Luis Berrón has been experimenting with modular synthesizers for years and it can be said that he is already an established local figure as a dance floor live performer. He is half of the project Alias 616 (consisting of him and Erreopeo), part of Los Niños, and goes solo as Nueve Vidas. The refinement of his sound design / performance is an increasingly exquisite maneuver of his emotional drive as an electronic musician.

Paulina Lasa has a multidisciplinary artistic background and practice. She has mainly gone from visual arts, to lyric writing, to composing, to vocal/sound experimenting. Lately she´s been mainly interested in the use of voice as a sound shaper that has a direct emotional effect in listeners or live audiences. She has been part of different folk/rock bands and her solo project, Nima Ikki, was born in 2014.

The ever-changing sonic endeavors of David's project Turning Torso reveal the juxtaposition of frequencies and rhythms through space and its emotional & corporal response from the listener. Evolving its musical background from jazz influenced progressions to adventurous sound micro-textures; Turning Torso has produced a compelling catalogue of forward thinking soundscapes.
