Scissorgun - Assault Two (2017)

We knew the LTM obviously dealt in the best power electronics and industrial flavours, but this debut mini LP from newcomer Scissorgun has meant that we've spent most of the last two nights awake, going through the label's entire catalogue. Our investigations have led us to understand that this could well be one of the finest debut efforts from them and, of course, that Scissorgun is one of the hottest producers to land on our charts this year. Assault Two is both dark and endlessly pleasing; the opening tracks "Caballero" and "Bastard Son" never quite stray into heavy beat landscapes and yet we're launched in a world of energetic slabs of sound. Then there's the likes of "Sahara Dream", where heavier percussions meet dubwise frequencies, but the core of the album is made up of experimental spoken word tunes like the wondrous story told through "The Searching".
