“Breaking Free” is the brand new debut album by Swedish hard rock/glam metal band “Aerodyne”. Although a recently formed outfit (January 2016), “Aerodyne” is put together by experienced musicians of the Swedish hard rock scene, after two of the leading local bands in Gothenburg, collide head first. The band consists of vocalist/guitarist Daniel Almqvist, bassist Timmy Kan, guitarist Johan Bergman and Christopher Almqvist on drums.
Aerodyne come out as a hard rock/glam metal package that seemingly has it all: Catchy compositions, a captivating front-man, classy production and amazing looks by all four band members. Still a more in-depth look verifies that this band is much more than what first impression would suggest. That is largely due to the abilities of the musicians which go beyond the stereotypical hair metal group.
The album opens on a string of sleaze rockers “As Above, So Below”, “Comin’ for you” and “Breaking Free”. The rocking “Run Away” features the welcome guest appearance of Danny Rexon from Crazy Lixx, who provides anthemic backing vocals. All the songs on the record is totally indicative of the musical abilities of the quartet, proving more than enough to separate “Aerodyne” from the bulk of hard rock acts.
Overall “Aerodyne – Breaking Free” is as substantial a hard album album, as it gets, including all the qualities that will bring you back to its songs time and time again. Recommended to all fans of the genre and beyond.
