Brian Jones - Where I Belong (2017)

A transparent and unique voice in today's Christian rock music landscape, Brian Jones is a singer/songwriter with a passion for writing melodies that get stuck in your head and songs that will free your soul. His influences include classic rock icons like The Beatles and The Beach Boys as well as 90's alternative greats like Weezer and Nirvana. Though his musical influences are comprised of primarily secular artists, Brian’s lyrics and song themes reflect his everyday personal struggles as a Christian husband, father and musician.

Growing up, Brian always felt at home as an outsider among his contemporaries. Forming his first band at age 15, Brian found satisfaction working out his inner turmoil through writing his own original music while his peers were content playing Metallica covers. Coming up with an original idea, no matter how bad it was, was always more gratifying than reinterpreting someone else's work. This mindset propelled Brian to write hundreds of songs over the years while continuing to discover and develop his unique voice through various bands and projects. Not having growing up in church, Brian found Jesus at the age of 18 and soon discovered an added depth to the music that was in his head brought about by his budding faith. “To know that each and every personal failure I had experienced and will ever experience had already been redeemed through Christ and now could be shared in song to encourage someone else in their struggle, was a groundbreaking moment,” shares Brian. “There is so much freedom in knowing that your voice matters and your work has value.”

Though finding community alongside other local Christian artists and receiving comparisons to great CCM artists like Relient K, Switchfoot, Phil Wickham, and Keith Green, Brian still remains an island in the vast sea of Contemporary Christian Music due to his strong secular influence and "off the beaten path" style. “It's important to me to remain true to who I am as an artist and share the songs in my heart, reflecting the music I listen to and love whether or not it’s what’s most current,” says Brian.

Brian has just released a new album entitled "Where I Belong". It contains eleven songs, handcrafted with a unique blend of Christian Alternative and Pop Rock styles sewn together with deeply personal lyrics that deal with disappointment, hope and finding your purpose through it all. The music was recorded and produced at Little Songs Studio in Valrico, Florida. Featuring bassist, Rich Tiemann and keyboardist, Jeff Tubaugh for orchestral parts, each song was written and recorded between March and June 2017 and released on CD, Download and Vinyl.
