Dionne Warwick - Dionne (Expanded Edition) (2018)

The Seventies were not good to Dionne Warwick(e) until this 1979 release. With the huge exception of a 1974 duet with the Spinners, the number-one "Then Came You", she hadn't cracked the Top Thirty since "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" at the beginning of the decade. A move from Scepter Records to mighty Warner Brothers, and a famous addition of an "e" to her last name, did not produce results.

Then came Barry? Arista Records president Clive Davis paired Dionne with Barry Manilow, Arista's golden boy and the hottest male vocalist around at the time. He'd co-produced his own LPs and a disc for his backing singers Lady Flash, and was a perfect fit for Ms. Warwick's romantic style. The album was produced by Barry Manilow and it contains masterpieces like "Who, what, when, where, why?", "The letter", "Déjà vu", "After you", "In your eyes" and "Never love this way again". Some single versions are included.
