David James Brinston was born April 19, 1959, in Marks, Mississippi. He is the 3rd child of 12 sisters and brothers. His family instilled in him a strong work ethic and healthy family values. David is an American Recording Artist who has made a significant contribution to Southern Soul (blues) and R&B music. David’s family relocated to Clarksdale, Mississippi where he grew up and continued his education. David and his siblings formed a gospel group and performed at Church and local events in Clarksdale, Coahoma County, Mississippi. David was the lead vocalist. In 1990, he decided to begin a music career and with the support of his family relocated to Memphis, Tennessee and signed with Jomar Records. In partnership with Jomar Records, David produced his first hit single “Love Maker.” In 1992 he record “Hit and Run” his first Album and “Slow Down from the Run Around” on Jomar Record Label. In 1993, he recorded “Two Way Love Affair,” his biggest hit and still today one of the hottest songs on the charts of R&B. David’s latest CD “Beat It Up” is steadily climbing the charts. David headlines numerous events across the country to include the Spring Fling in Mobile, AL, International Sunflower Blues festival in Clarksdale, MS- sponsored by the Clarksdale Blues Museum, and participates in other venues such as the City of Lafayette, Louisiana’s Mardi Gras Parade and Ball. The Mississippi State Legislature recently enacted legislation to establish historical markers in recognition of blues artist from the State of Mississippi who have made significant contributions to music. In 2010, David was recognized by the Mississippi Blues Commission with the presentation of a historical marker in his hometown of Clarksdale, MS; shared with the legendary Mr. Sam Cooke. David has been on tour with the Johnnie Taylor, the Manhattans, Tyrone Davis, Dorothy Moore, Clarence Carter, Al Green and many other great artists. Some of his songs have been used for sampling and remixing. David is a song writer and top of the charts hit maker with great singing creditably and well over ten CD’s. He has recorded with JOMAR Records, Malaco Records, Ecko Records, SUSIE Q (Waldoxy) and others labels.
