Royal Johnson - Howlin' (2017)

The need to categorize a band’s music is natural. On rare occasions…when the moon is right and the stars line up…a band comes along that at once has elements of those who came before, but takes ownership of the sound! They own it, they give it a voice and a life… you’ve never heard it before. It is uniquely The Royal Johnson Band. In writing this piece I blocked everything but the music..let it all surround me. Dark smoke whiskey, deep, tea stained rivers and dense pine thickets…the music took me there. It was a fine ride…. Bluegrass, gospel, blues, country, and hard hitting rock are the elements that are masterfully blended, mixed and formed to create the unique and signature sound of The Band… Royal Johnson!
