France’s Møme takes a decidedly tropical approach on his debut album, in which fluttering synths sway like palm fronds and tempos dip to a too-hot-to-move crawl. “Delta” opens the album with slow-motion house beats and sticky, syncopated synth riffs, while “Super Hot Days” is a beach-party jam par excellence, drizzling liquid funk riffs over a colorful nu-disco groove. Singer Merryn Jeann steals the spotlight on standouts “Why Is It” and “Aloha,” bringing a husky, vintage-soul mood to productions geared toward a future paradise.
