The 4 Seasons - Sherry / Big Girls Don't Cry (1994)

Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons had a brief fling with national popularity as the Four Lovers in the 1950s, but when they started recording for Vee Jay records that is when the legend began. The earliest hits are here when the group notched 5 number 1 hits in a row with only 3 songs. Sherry was number 1 on both the pop and rhythm and blues charts (counting as two number ones). Big Girls Don't Cry matched that track record giving them two more number ones. Then Walk Like A Man went to number one in January 1963 making a total of five number ones, out of their first three releases on Vee Jay. Even the Beatles did not match that. All three of those number ones are on these two first albums by the group. But these albums are more than their hits. Included are the Jersey Boys take on Doo Wop classics they were performing in their stage act and versions of recent hits. In summary, these two albums are a product of their time, but they hold up very well as the years go by.
