John Porter once again recorded the album "silently" - without media noise, loud promotion. Probably because the material for the Honey Trap is not specifically media - say, an elderly man twang guitar, accompanied by several other "gingerbread", and to reach for worldwide hackneyed themes of Americana, country, blues and rock 'n' roll. If we treat this album just as it will commit a big mistake. Long ago no one in our not delivered as racial disc.
Porter is our Polish Welshman. Visited the homes of most music fans with the album "Helicopters" published in 1980. Plate full of raw, full of class rock critics and was delighted with the guideline of what was played on the Polish scene in the 80s and 90s more mainstream fans Porter met while working with his current wife - Anita Lipnicka. Released in 2003, the album Indecent songs turned out not only a great commercial success, but also a great project fully refined composition, light and intelligently smuggled and an Americana rock elements. References to music from overseas were placed in a duo for the next album. Similarly, it was the first solo album after years of Porter - issued in 2011, Back In Town. It is true that there were more acoustic sounds on it, but the whole thing was very well received and gained recognition as an album "mature artist."
Honey Trap is a disc much more stringent. You could say that John Porter melorecytuje more on it than singing. Associations with Tom Waits, For, Jagger or Pettym most eligible. Porter does not follow, however, does not draw on the achievements, but it has a natural gift that makes his voice sounds in your ears long after the trek by Honey Trap. Vocal glides through the whole album a remarkable building, knajpniany climate, and Porter sounds more like a bard wilderness than "singer" (eg. "In The Blue Room"). Already it only makes the album worth reading - uncommon in our country we stoop so raw, real material.
At Honey Trap there were also great, dark ballads. "Light On a Darkened Road" has something of recording time with Lipnicka, but "Night Smoke" delights blues. The whole album is hidden too many flavors - it is unusual in a brilliant solo hummondowe "Did not Love You Save", and on the good, rock'n'roll flair are played "Where The Sun Never Shines" and "Outta My Bed". Most mainstream song, but also the most hit, is perhaps the title "Honey Trap" supported by a great harmonica solo (I recommend a very good video below!). It contains a portion of Americana bears and catchy chorus melody - a great, well-rhythmic composition.
Porter Honey Trap with a new musical worlds before us does not reveal. He just confirmed his class. Does not have to prove anything. He invited some excellent warsztatowców, dug out of the drawer compositions, arranged, went to Sussex and recorded in the good company of several compositions "for a hundred". It should reach for this album - honesty, austerity is so much needed in the current commercialized world. At night, autumn discussions with friends for something stronger as he!
