Lourenço Rebetez - LÍNGUA GERAL (2026) [Hi-Res]

Brazilian composer and guitarist Lourenço Rebetez reimagines jazz as an ongoing process of synthesizing ancient Afro-Latin rhythms with modern musical structures. On his second album, “Lingua Geral,” he explores the tension between traditional African triple-meter rhythms and binary pop beats, creating a sense of artistic imbalance. In making the record, he used complex polyrhythmic patterns and enlisted the help of the Grupo Ofá ensemble, aiming to capture the essence of the musical imprecision characteristic of live performance. He honed his craft in São Paulo and at Berklee, influenced by the ideas of Letieres Leite and Moacir Santos, who taught him to break down genre boundaries. Lourenço Rebetez’s approach centers on deliberate production: studio work, multitrack recording, and a rejection of strict notation allow him to capture the “blur” between different cultural codes.
