Terry Riley & Krishna Bhatt - Terry Riley Krishna Bhatt Duo (2017)

Unreleased work from Terry Riley – recorded in the WDR studios of German Radio, and a tremendous addition to his catalog! The first half of the music here features Riley on piano and electronics, in duet with Krishna Bhatt on sitar and tabla – in a mode that further unlocks the influence that Terry first received from Indian music, then transformed into his own spiritual sound. There's a bit more openness on both the sitar, and Riley's piano – while the electronic waves provide more of the minimalist pulse – on a 38 minute reading of "Song From The Old Country". "Jaipur Local" follows – a shorter performance, but still quite long – with Riley on piano, improvising a bit more alongside Bhatt's sitar. There's also a bit of vocals, too – with these very odd, homespun lyrics by Terry – very unusual. The second half features Riley solo – playing both piano and electronics, on a very long reading of his "Harp Of New Albion".
