This recording captures perhaps the most beautiful soprano voice of the 20th century. Her passion and pathos approach those of Callas and her sweetness and grace those of Tebaldi. This studio recording of arias is especially valuable given her unfortunately short singing career. (Her only other studio recording was of Ponchielli's "La Gioconda," though recordings do exist of public performances of some of her great roles.) Too few people have had the pleasure of meeting Anita Cerquetti.
