The long-awaited follow up release to Jacob 2-2's 2013 LP, “Herbivore” (King Deluxe), Jacob 2-2 hurdles through a contrasting world full of chaos and caricature, bending bright synth stabs and spacious club rhythms to his will, as both a reactionary protest to life's mounting pressures and a celebration of its natural disorder.
"Dashed Marked Crossed" builds on his signature hi-fi collisional funk and puts his virtuosic synth work on full display. Jacob 2-2 curves sharply, repeatedly, from manic peaks to disorienting, distorted lows, where jagged bursts of emotion erupt and melt away. But amidst the insatiable chaos, he still plants buoys of optimism, showing off his lightning quick finger-work with bright, melody-drunk anthems.
A lenticular postcard of the rollercoaster of contemporary life, "Dashed Marked Crossed" dispels of the saccharine, embraces the complex, and seeks solace in spite.
