In Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music, a group of nuns spill Haterade on postulant (and future Von Trapp) Maria. Behind her back, in great detail, they list her offenses—wearing curlers, singing in common areas, concluding that she “is not an asset to the abbey.” There’s a similar uproar in the cloistered music community surrounding suburban Florida teenager Danielle Bregoli, a.k.a. Bhad Bhabie. To refresh, Bregoli achieved notoriety in 2016 after uttering a salty riposte on Dr. Phil: “Cash me ousside, how bow dat?” It went viral and launched a million memes, and now, a rap career. So how do you solve a problem like Bhad Bhabie? With ghostwriters like Brittany B., natch. She stays in her delinquent potty-mouth lane, countering jealous attacks with an aggressive offense. “Hi Bich” and “Gucci Flip Flops” are obvious hits, her truculent tween accent hugging the trap groove. She admits to regret (“No More Love”) and succumbing to crushes (“Trust Me”), flashing a human spirit behind the rage. All said, 15 extends Bregoli’s time in the spotlight. Shout out to Andy Warhol.
