Nick The Nightfly - Nice One (2018)

The new musical project by Nick the Nightfly is called "Nice One". The record, which comes out two years after the previous "The Devil", is seductive. Eleven pieces - of which eight signed by the same Scottish crooner - with a very refined sound; impeccable arrangements and a shower of stars of the world jazz scene are the ingredients of a work that results from the very first listening very appealing, pleasant enjoyment, both because rhythms and atmospheres are very enjoyable, both because the plots are elegant and sophisticated.

The sounds now muffled and delicate, expertly composed and cameristically arranged, now informally more vivid and palpitating, are still excellent. The crossed scenarios are extremely appealing both in the three standards reinterpreted with renewed sonority and in the original compositions valuable for inspired writing.

Many highlights: from the sublime "I'm not afraid" and "Song for my father" where a monumental Fabrizio Bosso releases incomparable solos, to the lively "Can not get enough" masterfully structured with vocal arrangements worthy of the best Manhattan Transfer ; from the soothing "Brother where are you" with an extraordinary speech by Andrea Dulbecco, to the catchy "I do not care" enriched by the warm sounds of the saxophone of the excellent Daniele Scannapieco.

To all this is added an impeccable rhythm for precision, interplay and versatility and which sees Amedeo Ariano on drums, Dario Rosciglione on double bass, Roberto Tarenzi at the piano the real beating heart of the whole staff.

With this "Nice One", Nick the Nightfly creates a product that can be easily marketed, usable for everyone, well packaged, meticulously cared for, entertained and entertained and which has a high quality of music based on intelligence and refinement.
