Norman Granz loved to work with music and musicians, but he also became a champion of African-American musicians at a time when they were often exploited and disregarded.

On the centenary of Norman Granz's birth, Verve / UMe created the four-CD CD set "Norman Granz: The Founder". Enriched with notes by the biographer Granz - Tada Hershorn, this historical set presents an extensive collection of songs from Granz's rich career, recordings of great musicians he has recorded, such as Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Oscar Peterson, Charlie Parker and many others. Some compositions appear for the first time on a CD.
