From the first notes of Fried Pies to the closing bars of the eponymous Strange Kind of blues, Nicola Trivarelli leads his trio and the guests involved in the album on the edge of the blues. If for the "resident training" the guitarist looks at the dynamics of the organ trio, the guests offer the leader the chance to deal with three other guitarists, namely Lello Tiberio, Giancarlo Alfani and Gianfranco Continenza, as well as involving the melodic coils of two young saxophonists like Manuel Trabucco and Attilio Perfetti and the rhythmic composed by Nicola Di Camillo and Nicola Angelucci, in two pieces.
Six originals - including Strange Kind of blues co-signed with Gianfranco Continenza - and as many standards to fill almost all the available space within the compact disc. Blues and electric sounds: the lesson of the great masters of jazz and their interpretation of blues, the guitarist adds his personal orientation to the grammar of fusion. The songs reveal themselves as vehicles for improvisations and spaces where the assertive inclinations of the soloists converge. On the other hand, excluding a couple of songs that develop in less than four minutes, the average duration is around six minutes to get to the eleven of There will never be another you. Vehicles explored in a wide and always changing way in favor of the kaleidoscopic gallery of guests: the geometry of the organ trio allows spaces of freedom to interact with the different approaches of the usual and converge on the electric trajectories woven by Trivarelli.
