A sexy set of tracks from the Japanese scene – music that seems to start in the disco years, and move into some of the more electronic Tokyo modes of the next generation – but always with a sweetly groovy style to the music! The work here is very different than both US soul of the time, and the wave of Euro disco and boogie – although it maybe shares a bit with the latter, in the way that female vocals are often put upfront in the mix, and given a very sensual sound. Other tracks are maybe more electro soul – with heavier beats at the bottom – and the whole thing is a huge discovery of rare Japanese tracks we never would have heard otherwise!
