Curtis Lawson, a versatile, seasoned performer, has been in the entertainment business since he was a teenager in Texas. He began his career as a stand-up comedian who wrote his own jokes and performed in bars. After a stint in the army, he fell in love with San Francisco and the blues, moved there, and began singing the blues on Fillmore Street in the City in 1958. He still did some comedy and even hosted his own television show about the blues for two years.

Crowds have been thrilled by his positive, dramatic vocals for over fifty years. His colorful costumes, "down home" warmth, and humor and to his unique appeal. Even though he was influenced by Ray Charles, Jimmy Reed, and Big Joe Turner, he has developed his own style. his repertoire includes blues, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, and country songs. During all these years, Curtis has entertained audiences in California and other states in many capacities. He has headlined and participated in blues festivals, played his own gigs, appeared as a guest artist and performed on stage with many musicians, including Albert King, Joe Louis Walker, Elvin Bishop, Nancy Wilson, Big Mama Thornton, Big Joe Turner, Carla Thomas, just to name a few.

Most of the songs on Lawson five CD albums are ones that he wrote, arranged and produced. He has a special talent for writing love songs, such as "My Woman, My Girl, My Wife," and Broken Heart Blues," which are very soulful blues. He released his first CD, "Legend In My Own Time, " in 2004. His second CD was called " Ain't No Cure Foe The Blues, " and his third was " Live At The Saloon. " Number four was " Sitting In A Love Zone, " and number five was " In It To Win It. " All the albums are on his own label, La Quanta Music.

In 2004 Curtis was honored by being awarded " Male Vocalist Of The Year" by West Coast Blues Hall of Fame. In 2007 he received a "Certificate of Honor: by the Board Of Supervisors, City and County of San Francisco, Also in that same year he celebrated his 50th year of Singing The Blues in high style at a San Francisco venue. This master showman is definitely a legend in his own time.
