NOVA FELLOWSHIP - CONTINUUM (2026) [Hi-Res]

Initiated by producer Antoine Rajon for the 2026 NUITS SONORES festival, the NOVA FELLOWSHIP quintet formed to reimagine the fruitful collaboration between African-American drummer Steve Reid and electronic music pioneer Kieran Hebden (Four Tet). Over his career, Steve Reid performed alongside icons of free jazz, funk, and rock (ranging from Sun Ra Arkestra and Miles Davis to James Brown) before recording four genre-blending albums with Four Tet late in his life.

The group's debut album, CONTINUUM, was recorded in a single live session at Paris's Studio Pigalle with Hebden in attendance. The ensemble features drummer Zach Morrow, pianists Tony Tixier and Rob Clearfield (known for his work with Makaya McCraven), and a horn section consisting of trumpeter Hermon Mehari and saxophonist Francesco Geminiani. The tracklist merges 1970s classics from Steve Reid & the Legendary Master Brotherhood, reinterpreted Four Tet pieces, and the duo's shared composition "Morning Prayer." For this track, Geminiani introduced the Nautilus, a custom wooden flute crafted using the golden ratio, highlighting the spiritual and experimental identity of the Steve Reid and Four Tet partnership.
