Miro Sprague is an award-winning contemporary jazz pianist and composer, who has performed with musicians such as Jerry Bergonzi, Reggie Workman, Matt Wilson, Greg Osby, Anat Cohen and Wayne Shorter, and has studied with Herbie Hancock, Billy Childs, Jason Moran and Larry Goldings.

Fresh from two years as a Fellow at the Thelonious Monk Institute -- the world's most prestigious jazz master's program -- Miro has released this exquisite CD which conveys the full range of his musical artistry.

Along with Miro on piano, the album features Eric Miller, trombone, Michael Zsoldos, tenor and soprano saxophone, Marty Jaffe, bass, Paul Wiltgen, drums, and on one track the renowned rhythm section team of Matt Wilson, drums and Martin Wind, bass.

Blue Dreaming takes the listener on a dynamic musical journey featuring seven original compositions, four by Sprague and one each by Mller, Zsoldos and Jaffe, along with two great jazz standards. From the deep mood and expressive lyricism of "Blue Dreaming" and "Dream Song" to the optimistic groove of "Coastin' and classic swing of "Turnaround", the music traverses a wide range of moods and textures while delivering a very satisfying listening experience for any fan of creative music.

“A spectacular album. Miro is pure music to me. Imagination and intuition take the place of anything expected. He has a great sensitivity that shines."
Jerry Bergonzi - Saxophonist, Composer, Faculty, New England Conservatory

"Miro Sprague is among the most talented young composer/pianists of his generation. His grasp of harmonic complexity, subtle pianistic touch, and communication skills enable him to play the spectrum from traditional to free jazz."

Armen Donelian, Pianist/Composer, Faculty, New School University Jazz Program

"Miro is a very gifted young pianist. His lyrical and harmonic senses are beautiful and adventurous. Even though he has a great technical command of the instrument, his technique always serves the story that he is telling."
Billy Childs, Grammy-award winning pianist and composer
