when odetta took the stage that night at the kerrville folk festival, no one was aware that the legendary ella fitzgerald had passed- when odetta announced it as a benediction to her set it commenced an absolutely amazing performance, fortunately captured on tape. the album features the often requested "the fox" a 27 minute medley of 10 folk-blues showpieces and the gorgeous anthem "amazing grace" complete with audience harmonies. this may be the finest moment in the career of the queen of folk and shows why her white house lifetime achievment award was so well deserved
