Los Angeles-based electronic outfit Goldroom makes dreamy, synth based electronic dance music. Formed in 2011, Goldroom is primarily the alias of Electronic producer/songwriter Josh Legg, who previously fronted the similarly inclined trio NightWaves. As Goldroom, Legg released the self-produced Angeles EP in 2011. In 2013, he returned with the seven-track EP, Embrace, featuring vocalist Chela. Also in 2013, Legg added drummer Nick Sandler and keyboardist/vocalist Mereki Beach, transforming Goldroom into a live three-member ensemble.

“I’ve wanted to center Goldroom around honest songwriting, and in late 2015 things poured out in a way they just hadn’t before,” Goldroom says of the album, which showcases his vocals and musicianship. “Classic American songwriting is something I’ve tried hard to honor and push forward. Although I make electronic-based music, I think of this as Americana at its emotional core. I was aching to write something more simple and earnest, devoid of cynicism,” Goldroom says of “Silhouette” which pays homage to Daft Punk, Phoenix, and Alan Braxe.

The album’s title is inspired by Teddy Roosevelt, who referred to California as “West of the West” during his presidency. “It’s always resonated with me because it feels like a destination past the Wild West – an oasis where anything is possible,” says the Los Angeles-based Goldroom. “To me, West of the West is also the Pacific Ocean, where so much of my life and inspiration lies.”

This fall Goldroom will partner with Autograf for a major 30+ date live co-headline tour of North America including stops in New York’s Terminal 5, Montreal’s, Fairmount Theatre, Toronto’s Mod Club, Los Angeles’ The Novo, San Francisco’s The Fox, Vancouver’s Imperial among others.
