On "The Exotica Album" composer Øyvind Torvund combines a number of sources of inspiration, from the 50s and 60s "exotica" or "lounge", to a number of historical reference points such as early electronic music and cartoon music.

In spite of the richness of references and inspiration, Øyvind Torvund develops his own musical language, just as The Exotica Album preserves its own structural integrity by creating a clearly spanning form that supports the myriad of ever-evolving musical parts. Believing in the core of their sources, either exotica or electronic modernism, "The Exotica Album" is still impressively new, honoring the great tradition of acoustic experimentation by bravely going as far as they can.
