Lynette Washington’s “Soul Of A Horn” LP is released on Amfi and pays tribute to the music of Shirley Horn. The album features eleven tracks with a total runtime of just under an hour. The repertoire includes “I Didn’t Know What Time It Was,” “It Could Happen To You,” “Should I Surrender,” “Bein’ Green,” and “Here’s To Life,” among others. The selection combines well-known jazz standards with compositions closely associated with Shirley Horn’s interpretations. The result is a program that places Washington’s vocals at the center while also highlighting her musical connection to her inspiration.
