The Heptatonics - The Sun On Your Skin (2026)

Guitarist and composer Wouter “Wowie” Rosseel, known from the Jamaican Jazz Orchestra, trades instrumentals for songs rooted in rocksteady, early reggae and soul. Deep bass lines, offbeat guitar, organ and punchy horns frame Kapinga Gysel’s soulful vocals. The sound draws on 1960s and ’70s Jamaica and leaves room for jazz, funk and Afro influences. It stays warm and spacious, and the groove drives everything.

From the dancefloor pull of ‘Mek Mi Dance’ to the more reflective ‘If You Only Knew’, the album moves easily between exuberance, romance and resilience. Classic Jamaican sounds provide the vocabulary, but the voice is entirely their own.

A fresh take on vintage Jamaican music.
