Honeyhouse - Kick up the Dust (2019)

Kick Up the Dust is the new release from Howlin’ Dog Records of the powerhouse soul-Americana all-female vocal group hONEyhoUSe. The music of hONEyhoUSe continues to mature, deepen and expand in this fifth release from the group.
With five offerings from each of the three lead vocalists, there’s a great variety in the journey through Kick Up the Dust, with Hillary’s hard-hitting title track and the in-your-face rockin’ blues of My Own Sunshine, through Yvonne’s driving, incisive Frames and the laid-back groove of Promise Land, to Mandy’s rollicking country-pickin’ Daze and her sweet Better Than This. All but two tunes are original, with Mandy delivering a couple of killer renditions of Michael Hearne’s Songwriter and Jimmy Davis’ Miss.
The production is equally rich and varied, with the rocking bluesy electric elements traveling right alongside delicate acoustic touches, providing a fitting vehicle for hONEyhoUSe’s delightful weave of soul, blues, rock, and country elements, all riding on top of the delightfully creative bass of Danielle Andrade and the solid, expressive drumming and percussion of Dianne de Leon. Howlin’ Dog co-producer Don Richmond provides his usual eclectic blend of acoustic and electric strings and other decorative touches throughout, providing an always-interesting ride through the landscape.

Consisting of award winning R&B/Gospel soulstress Hillary Smith, earthy Blues/Folk singer-songwriter Yvonne Perea, and sweet voiced Mandy Buchanan, together with bassist Danielle Andrade and percussionist Dianne de Leon, “hONEyhoUSe” seamlessly melds the lines of musical genres with their original creations embracing blues, soul, folk and Americana into one sweet Honeyhouse of music.
