Born: 5 November 1949, Alabama, USA.
Died: 4 July 1984, when his motorcycle was in a collision with a van driven by a drunk driver on Independence Day.

Spheeris was the son of a traveling carnival family who settled in Venice, California. After the death of his father, Spheeris then moved to New York City to develop a songwriting career. He befriended Richie Havens, who introduced him to Columbia Records- with whom he signed a four-album deal. After releasing these albums, and a 1980 single, Spheeris released no further material for 4 years.

Sadly, just hours before his death, he had completed a new album which wasn't released until long after his demise.
