A jaw-dropping, crowd pleasing guitar virtuoso with a rich, soulful vocal style. This album features more funky grooves, inventive guitar lines and thoughtful lyrics.
In November 08, Aussie blues artist Geoff Achison returned home after almost 2 years living and working in the USA. In that time he chalked up a countless number of live gigs, radio interviews and even television broadcasts. His relentless touring schedule kept him on the move and exposed both his music and performance style to new audiences up and down the eastern states. His live CD release, Souldiggin’ (recorded in Australia) reached #23 on the US Roots/Blues Chart, and was identified by some critics as one of the best releases of 2007. In June 2008 ‘Guitar Player’ magazine had Geoff listed amongst their Top Ten Hot New Guitarists - no mean fete for an independent Australian artist. On his UK tour, he returned to the BBC Studios in London to record a national radio program there. Another highlight was making his 11th annual visit to Jorma Kaukonen’s (Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna) Fur Peace Ranch Guitar Camp in Ohio to conduct his ever more popular guitar workshop.
RECORDING IN ATLANTA
Amidst all this, Geoff decided to embark on a new recording project featuring all original music. With materiel and artistic vision ready to go, Geoff put the call in to Atlanta’s Bakos Ampworks studio and got things happening. Having endeared himself to the Atlanta music scene, he was able to hire the best of an already strong stable of players. The recording band included the red hot rhythm section of Ted Pecchio & Tyler ‘Falcon’ Greenwell with guest spots by Oliver Wood and legendary drummer Yonrico Scott. The sessions began in April ‘08 and continued through to September, spending a day here and there in the studio as Geoff’s grueling tour schedule allowed. The results really are stunning and Geoff is suitably excited about the future release of this new selection of original music. “I’m thrilled to bits with it.” He says “It’s like an audio postcard.”
