The (analogue) volume to this recording comes from the archives of the EMI; Now it releases cpo as part of their "Dieter Klöcker Edition". Here it is not the clarinetist Klöcker, but especially the musicologist Klöcker, who is the focus of interest. Although he has not discovered what rarities and fragments of his ensemble Consortium Classicum sounded here, while exploring forgotten archives, he is once thrilled here only for what others excavate. But the combination, including the combination of Schubert and Anselm Hüttenbrenner, is typical Klöcker - and very enlightening. Already the three woodwind minuets and the only partially completed early wind octet of the 14- or 16-year-old Schubert provide interesting insights into his artistic adolescence. And Hüttenbrenner's quintet is a sophisticated, appealing and beautifully sentimental document of contemporary Schubert worship.
