Catie Curtis, dubbed "Folk-Rock Goddess" by the New Yorker, is known for songs that push at musical boundaries and explore "the difficult edges of passing events" in life. Her acoustic based music is spirited, unique, and a vivid portrayal of universal life experiences, wrapped in evocative songwriting. Curtis (with co-writer Mark Erelli) won the Grand Prize in the 2006 International Songwriting Competition. Curtis previous work has been featured on episodes of Grey's Anatomy, Dawson's Creek and several other TV shows and movies. Curtis has toured extensively throughout the US, including shows at the White House in 2010 and 2011.
Curtis, whose career was launched 1996 with her first release on EMI/Guardian, has released 12 CDs on various labels from Rykodisc, Vanguard, Compass, and most recently a Christmas album on her on label. She appears on a duets album with Kris Kristofferson called "The Austin Sessions" She is also known for supporting progressive causes such as Americans United For Separation of Church and State (she produced 70 events for AU called Voices United Concerts), Safe Passage (a school in Guatemala), and LGBT organizations. With her Aspire to Inspire Endowment providing musical instruments to seven youth-oriented music organizations, a busy schedule officiating nontraditional weddings, and the fulltime job of raising two daughters with her partner, Catie Curtis is stretching her own boundaries to ensure that, despite the rough edges in life, there will always be those moments of beauty!
