Fandango was formed by bassist Nick Simper, most famous for his stint in Deep Purple in the late '60s. He had also been in various other bands, including Johnny Kidd's just before Kidd's death; the Flowerpot Men; and early-'70s hard rock outfit Warhorse. In the late '70s, needing a band to record material for a music publisher, he formed Fandango, which included ex-Warhorse guitarist Pete Parks. Fandango recorded a couple of run-of-the-mill hard rock albums that received little attention in English-speaking countries, but did manage to get in the Top 30 in Holland and Germany. Another former Warhorser, drummer Mac Poole, joined for their second album, by which time they might as well have called themselves Warhorse. Fandango disbanded in the early '80s.
