In 2019, Heartical Sound & Label is proud to celebrate 20 years in the music business ! For this new release, the mighty Basque Dub Foundation has teamed up with the legendary award-winning drummer Sly Dunbar O.D to create for us a new version of the classic « Ballistic Affair » riddim, originally made popular by Leroy Smart at Channel One in 1976 !

The line-up features new songs by original Channel One veteran singers like the great late Trevor Junior (R.I.P 2016) and Carlton Livingston, who need no introduction, you can also hear Glen Ricks (who started his career in the late 60s as a member of the group the Fabulous Flames) teaming up with the rub a dub deejay Papa Kojak (who was part of the first Jamaican female and male deejay duo with Mama Liza in the 70s) on a brilliant rendition of Bob Dylan’s classic « Blowing In The Wind ». Another deejay, who used to record at Channel One under the name Jah Walton, Joseph Cotton, pays tribute to all mothers, while the raggamuffin Skarra Mucci rides the rythm warning us about all the « Liars & thieves » out there. Based in Malaga, the Spanish sister and brother duo Rootsamala already released many singles on the Heartical Label in the past, they once again delight us with some sweet vocals and harmonies here on "The Joy Of Life ". Another of our household names, the Belgian MC Orignal Uman is in top form again toasting in French about the soundman life. At Heartical, we always love to invite new talents and international guests on our productions, so this time we offer you to discover the talented singjay Neto Yuth, based in Canada, asking us to put an end to all turf wars and also the deejay Stoneman, part of the Belgian upcoming duo Atomic Spliff, delivering some rough French soundclash lyrics. This new one-riddim album comes complete with a dub version plus an organ instrumental by Inyaki BDF & Sly Dunbar, and last but not least, a percussion version by the French drum expert Nicodrum.

This new release is dedicated to the memory of Joseph « Joe Joe » Hoo Kim who sadly passed away last September 20, 2018. He was the eldest of the four Hoo Kim brothers who created the legendary Channel One Studio in 1972, located on 29 Maxfield Avenue in Kingston, Jamaica.
