Between – Free Music (2022)

"Free Music" (2022) marks the triumphant return of the legendary German-international ensemble Between, released on Intuition Records nearly 50 years after their classic 1970s era.

Founded in the late 1960s by pianist and composer Peter Michael Hamel, Between became one of the pioneers of world music and avant-garde crossover, bringing together classical musicians, jazz musicians, and masters of ethnic instruments. On this 2022 album, the project's founders and key members (including Hamel and Roberto Denis DeTree) join forces with a new generation of musicians to reinterpret the band's legacy on a contemporary technical and aesthetic level.
