"The career of Anthony Maresco began in Southern California in 1957. Then Ernie Finaro, Anthony Perry and John Donato created the group" Dynamics ", and the leader was Tony, who was then 13. The band recorded a couple of demos at the local studio and sent them to Herald Records. The Herald guys liked Dynamics and they invited the band to their studio and the result was the recording of the single Betty My Own / Forever Love in 1959.
But for his own reasons, Tony left Dynamics and created his own band Tony & The Twilighters (with Anthony Barbell, Michael Bongiorno and Bernard Mastragostino). In 1960, the Philadelphia Red Top Records band released Yes Or No / The Key To My Heart, and in 1961 another Be My Gir / Did You Make Up Your Mind, but as "Tony & The Twiliters" ( probably a typo).
In 1963, Tony returned to "Dynamics" and the group comes out under the brand new name "Anthony & The Sophomores". In 1963, with their demo "Sing These Oldies Mr. Bassman", an unpleasant situation occurred - the label considered that it would be confused with "Mr. Bassman" Johnny Saimball, which led to the release of another song with a similar name - "Play These Oldies" Mr. DJ ". And the rest is a lot of great records on Mercury, ABC, Grand and Jamie Records. " (google)
