Finnish-born pianist/composer Frank Carlberg emigrated to Boston in 1986 and now lives in Brooklyn. His elegant, spare approach to music is influenced by Paul Bley, Ran Blake, Herbie Nichols, Herbie Hancock and Steve Lacy.

His latest release the 3d one on Fresh Sound New Talent after Variations on a Summer Day and In the Land of Art - features Christine Correa on voice, Chris Cheek on tenor saxophone, John Hebert on bass and Michael Sarin on drums. The material consists of nine settings to texts by 20th century poets as well as political songs with verbal convulsions based on the Bill of Rights.
