Enrico Negro - La memoria dell'acqua (2019)

Enrico Negro's precious solo research on the acoustic guitar with metal strings aims to unite, in a unitary language, the fundamental work of reworking arias and dances of the popular tradition of the Alpine arc with the ancient music of the period between Renaissance and Baroque, some compositions by modern and contemporary Italian authors and, finally, their own original compositions. In this work of building an 'Italian voice' of acoustic guitarism, characterized by counterpoint and transition elements from modal to tonal, Negro thus joins the work of guitarists like Beppe Gambetta and Franco Morone, with respect to which he emphasizes the weight of his strongest classical training. From this point of view his fingerstyle seems to recall in particular the teaching of the great master of the British guitar revival, John Renbourn with his baroque folk.
